Examination Fees  :

₹500 for General/OBC (₹400 refunded after CBT 1), ₹250 for SC/ST/PWD (fully refunded after CBT 1).

Minimum Age :    18 years

Maximum Age :   30 years

Reservations for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, P w B D, Ex SM and Relaxations in age for various eligible categories will be applicable as per govt Rules.

Education Qualification   :

To apply for the RRB ALP exam, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:

1. Educational Qualification:

  • Matriculation/SSLC (10th pass) along with ITI (Industrial Training Institute) in relevant trades recognized by NCVT/SCVT OR
  • Diploma/Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Automobile Engineering).

Selection Procedure   :

The selection process consists of multiple stages:

1. Computer-Based Test (CBT 1)

  • Duration: 60 minutes

  • Total Questions: 75 (Multiple-Choice Questions)

  • Subjects Covered:

    • Mathematics
    • General Intelligence & Reasoning
    • General Science (Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences of 10th level)
    • General Awareness & Current Affairs
  • Qualifying Nature: Candidates need to clear the cutoff to move to the next stage.


2. Computer-Based Test (CBT 2)

Candidates who clear CBT 1 appear for CBT 2, which is more detailed.

  • Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes

  • Total Questions: 175

  • Divided into Two Parts:

    • Part A: (90 minutes, 100 Questions)
      • Mathematics
      • General Intelligence & Reasoning
      • Basic Science & Engineering
      • General Awareness
    • Part B: (60 minutes, 75 Questions)
      • Trade-related questions (based on the ITI/Diploma chosen).
  • Note: Part B is qualifying in nature, and candidates must score at least 35% marks.


3. Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) – Only for ALP Candidates

  • This stage is only for Assistant Loco Pilot aspirants.
  • It tests a candidate's perceptual speed, memory, spatial visualization, and concentration.
  • There is no negative marking in this test.

4. Document Verification (DV) and Medical Test

  • Candidates who pass the above stages will be called for document verification to check their eligibility and qualifications.
